Mark Law (aka The Cap’n)

Based in the New Forest, Mark is a mischievous songwriter who loves the arcane and comedic. Solo or with The Curiosities, Mark can be found at the heart of noisy pub singalongs, belting out story songs, celebrating much loved local characters or staging pop up musical events (or protests) in unlikely locations.

Mark passionately believes that local songwriters don’t receive the recognition they deserve and founded Local Legends as a 21st Century Record Label to promote, record and distribute their live music at its best. As a small not-for-profit venture (i.e. wildly loss making), Mark is Mix Engineer (live & recorded sound), Record Producer, Video Producer, Webmaster and of course Chief Roadie and Rigger.

Mark’s personal musical mission is to bring the art of novelty songwriting kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. Saddened by the demise of Spike Jones, The Bonzos and Tom Lehrer, Mark fearlessly goes where others chicken out. He thinks live music offers fantastic possibilities for adventure, friendship, fun, community building and is ‘living the dream!’
