Hampshire based songwriter George Benn crafts superbly original songs delivered with a wink and a wry sense of humour. Whether tackling the comedy of daily life, current affairs, love or historical themes, George’s insightful songs combine thoughtful observation with mischievous charm – his take on the London Olympics is as unforgettable as it is unprintable!
George’s musical journey stretches back decades. He saw the Beatles in their black-and-white days (though the Fab Four themselves may not have spotted him), played and wrote in various bands through his teens and twenties, before turning to “a proper job” – only to rediscover his muse years later. He’s yet to write a song about gardening or the Suez Canal, but with George you never know what fertile idea might come next.
George is a regular supporter of the Milford on Sea Folk Club where he has headlined as well as cheerfully contributing songs from the floor. A true local legend in every sense, we look forward to sharing his live performances with a wider audience.
