Dave Broom

Dave is afflicted by the rare medical condition of ‘Mandolin Acquisition Disorder’ (or MAD). “I was at a party and somebody passed me one – it was only a small one – and I thought I couldn’t come to any harm if I just tried it.” 25+ mandolines later we’re not so sure…

As a soloist or member of iconic current and former local bands such as: Druid’s Brew, The Hobos, Acoustic Union and The Dekoratorz, Dave’s mandolin solos are legendary for their medolodic inventiveness, precision and outstanding tone.

Dave’s only other known vice is the propensity to deploy methods normally used by the automotive ‘chop shop’ to dismember well known songs and bolt them back together, a bit like Frankenstein’s Monster. The ‘chop shop’ metaphor is apt as Dave likes nothing more than playing songs with an automotive / motorbike theme. Happily, however, the results work brilliantly unlike Dr Frankenstein’s efforts!

Whether on mandolin or guitar (plus harmonica) Dave is a true local legend and we look forward to capturing his iconic performances as well as recording his original songs.
